Sitting Idle in my own little illusionary world of dreams, I see a cockroach passing by in haste, in order to seek a protective refuge in dark corners of my dwelling. Though for most of us – specially women folk, the insect looks to be the most despicable creature on this planet but thinking rationally what is the crime if a cockroach is not that beautiful and a splendor to the eyes!
Many of us would not hesitate to
hit the innocuous being till death – the means to achieve their objective could
be a stick, Hit-spray, Footwear or any such means which you lay your hands of.
I was in full liberty and at will to
make the little roach with a sprayer which every household has nowadays, but
a thought just poured in my mind – as to what harm he has done to me? What is
it that I Should be killing him and many such creatures roaming around down
under our foot. They are our invisible house inhabitants living with us without
much of a trouble.
For those highlighting the
dangers these roaches can pose to our family health – I argue that It is us who
have to clean the house, kitchen and other places of eateries without killing
or harming them. After all what was the purpose of them being on earth for
almost 320 million years!
What purpose are they serving us? My inquisitive mind lead me to google their existence. I was awestruck with
some jaw-dropping facts – one, that they can eat what other organisms can’t and
that they help immensely in pollination and plant reproduction.
Thoroughly convinced with the idiom “ Every being born in this planet has a purpose, be it humans or Insects, the roach was left unharmed by myself – believe me, this gave me a soothing satisfaction as I thought to justify my actions by questioning myself on the subject – If I cant give life to anyone , do I have the liberty to kill?
Now that I see them roaming around in close vicinity, ,I start to offer them bites of sugar candy or crumbled stack of bread – they all come and enjoy their delicacies – knowingly or unknowingly ignoring my presence, though still they feel insecure by the gigantic feet and statue they all see looking at us. Most of them go away to their hideouts after a sumptuous feed not to return for a long time.
Albeit all the arguments that I
face whilst I try to protect these smart roaches, a constant argument always
comes out to be in my favor of not spraying with life threatening aerosols ( I
have seen them dying in a limbo with much effort ) thinking laterally that they
also have a soul and equal right to live with us without any inhibition of fear
or death !
We can all show our humane side
by at least not vanquishing these harmless beings and if be docile enough to
capture them and show them a decent exit out of your homes and not kill them to
eternity ,though this act of humanity will surely be treated as a preponderance
to your loving nature – as they say ‘Charity begins at home” – So let’s start …
